“Some of the most comforting words in the universe are 'me too.' That moment when you find out that your struggle is also someone else's struggle, that you are not alone, and that others have been down the same road. ”
"We developed a unity unlike any we had known."
"We became lifelines for each other."
"together we were a source of strength and courage to fight the next battle."

Welcome to our Detours website! Please allow us to provide a little background information about our incredible and long enduring friendship. Years ago when we were in the thick of our struggles with infertility, a group of friends met through the RESOLVE National Infertility Support Group of San Diego, CA. None of us wanted to become a member of this "club." We all hoped our affiliation would be short lived. We would soon become pregnant and drop out, or so we hoped. But as the months and years went by, as participants would come and go, our group remained. We just couldn't seem to get - or stay pregnant - no matter what.
As we battled infertility, we developed a unity unlike any we had known. We laughed, cried and supported each other any time of the day or night. If one struggled, we all did. But we picked ourselves up and moved forward. We became lifelines for each other. Together we were a source of strength and courage to fight the next battle. We learned to cope through lessons that lifted us from adversity to abounding blessings.
Our book, Detours: Unexpected Journeys of Hope Conceived from Infertility came about long after our infertility doctors closed our files. Our friendship continued to grow over the years. Our journeys resolved at different times and in various ways, yet the difficulties we faced during infertility treatments bonded us together in ways we never expected. We continued to share our joys and challenges in life. We had yearly reunions after some of us moved to different parts of the country. It was during one of these gatherings that our book was conceived - as a tribute to our friendship, a gift to our children and as a beacon of hope for those who find themselves on the infertility detour.
Infertility had such a profound impact on our lives, that we vowed to help support anyone who is facing the same struggle. If we could reach through the monitor of our website, sit with you awhile and hear your story, we would love to offer our support. We encourage you to read Detours. We feel anyone who is struggling with infertility will find themselves somewhere in the pages of our book. Then reach out to us through our website, email, join our Facebook group also by the same name, Detours: Unexpected Journeys of Hope Conceived from Infertility. or send a message through our blog. We are here for you and we honor your quest and your journey.
In-Fertility and Friendship,
The Authors of Detours
